Conditions too good?

shy child“I have a seven-year-old son, who is reluctant to attend grade zero. When I lead him to class, cries and wants to go back to home. It started a few months ago. The son has been speaking ever since, that he wants to study at home. No translations help. The son has great conditions at home, there have never been problems with him. He is well liked by colleagues.”

I think, that the reasons for the son's reluctance to go to school should be looked for in it or in the contrast strongly felt by the child between the wonderful home conditions and probably average school conditions. my guess is, that the son is the only child growing up under optimal conditions. Probably the immediate environment accepts him unconditionally, it is praised for everything, perhaps, even admired. Without much effort, having no competitors in the form of e.g.. siblings, achieved a leading position in the family. Perhaps, he also did not go to kindergarten, where it would gradually reach him, that he is one of many children like him.

As someone special, he is treated only by family members. However, if you want to stand out also in a different environment, he must try to do it. I would advise, that you talk to the class teacher or the school counselor. Perhaps, these people will point to others (except those mentioned by me) reasons for my son's reluctance to go to school. You can also always ask for advice from specialists working at the Psychological and Pedagogical Counseling Center. Skilful elimination of the reasons for the child's reluctance to school identified in cooperation with them should solve the problem.
